Childhood

Before he joined the Master’s Cricket Club, Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, he trained with them before switching to Biju George, who trains at the Medical College Ground.

Education

He attends Rosary Senior Secondary School in Delhi. Sanju’s high school education was completed at St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary Schools in Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala). For his B.A., he studied English literature. Mar Ivanovo’s College, Thiruvananthapuram.

Career

Domestic States

He, 17, made his debut in the Kerala Ranji team against Vidarbha at the age of 17. Samson’s breakout season was during the 2013-14 Ranji Trophy when he truly entered the fray. The Assam region in north-eastern India scored 323 runs in the very first game.

He however outdid Assam’s innings by scoring 211 runs. This is a career record and gave Kerala a critical 39-run lead. He scored his first double-century in the Ranji Trophy with 23 fours and 5 sixes.

International Career

Sanju was selected for the 17-man England squad in 5 ODIs in England and a T20 in 2014. However, he was not allowed to make it to the starting XI. Sanju Samson’s consistent play in the Ranji Trophy and IPL saw him score significant runs. This led to his selection for the 2015 Zimbabwe tour. He made his debut for India in a T20 match. He scored only 19 runs from 24 deliveries.

It was not a good match for him and he has never represented India again on the cricket field. He was selected for the T20I series in India’s 2020 tour to New Zealand. As an opener, he was also included in the opening lineup. He was finally able to make an impact on the team after spending four years in the wilderness.
