Shaheen was born on 6 April 2000 in Landi Kotal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He is a left-handed batsman and fast left-hander. Shaheen is a professional bowler. He is also a keen all-rounder. Riaz Afridi, the older brother, was Pakistan’s 2004 representative. He is Yasir Afridi’s cousin and has an Afridi place in Pashtuns.
He was born to six of his elder brothers in the largest Afridi Tribe within the Khyber district, the Zakhakhel Afridi Tribe. Riaz, his oldest brother, introduced him to the sport. Riaz played in a Test match for Pakistan in 2004. He started the sport by playing at the Tatara Ground nearby, receiving basic training from his brother.
He is a big fan of Riaz Afridi. The brother played a friendly match against Pakistan in 2004. Shaheen reportedly said that although Wasim Akram is his “guru”, his brother Riaz has supported him and guided him when Shaheen needed immediate tips.
He was the first to experience proficient cricket and “hardball” when his brother taught him how to use a cricket bat at the “FATA Under-16” preliminaries in 2015. He had only played with the tennis bat up until that point. Shaheen felt empowered after he received the professional cricket bat in his hands. He began to practice in the nets.
