Shan Masood (born 14 October 1989) is a Pakistani internationally renowned cricketer. He is a player in the Yorkshire County Cricket Club, and also the Multan Sultans in domestic cricket. The lefty is an avid batsman and occasionally a right-handed medium-fast bowler. In August of 2018, the player was one of 33 players granted a central contract for this season’s 2018-19 cricket year by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

He was also the captain of the Multan Sultans and Southern Punjab Cricket Team. He is currently the captain appointed by the Yorkshire County Cricket Club for the 2023 County season. He was a part of the Pakistan Cricket Team’s team that finished second at the ICC WORLD T20 2022.

Early Life

The boy was born on the 29th of September 1989 in Kuwait where his father worked as a banker in an institution called a bank. After his father’s death, the Iraqi attack on Kuwait, and the beginning of the Gulf War, the family went back to their home in Pakistan before settling in Karachi once more.

Education

After finishing his education at Stamford School in Lincolnshire, the student went on to pursue Economics at Durham University before transferring to Loughborough University to study Management and Sports Sciences via distance learning.

Domestic Career

In his debut for the first class in 2007, Masood recorded 54 runs for Karachi in an opening stand of 154 runs with Asad Shafiq. Masood also played in three first-class matches with Durham University. In April 2018, Masood was appointed the vice-captain for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s team during the 2018 Pakistan Cup. In September 2019, Masood was named the captain of Southern Punjab for the 2019-20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy tournaments.

International Career

He scored 75 on his test debut in South Africa in October 2013. Masood scored his first hundred in a match in the match against Sri Lanka at Pallekele in July 2015. He scored 242 for the third wicket alongside Younis Khan, as Pakistan was able to chase 382. Masood a medium-pacer part-time pacer, was bowled for the first time during Test cricket on the 23rd of July 2016, against England on the pitch at Old Trafford. His first delivery was no ball.
