Shikhar Dhawan (born 5 December 1985) is an Indian cricketer. As a left-handed opener and occasionally skipper of the India national cricket team He is captain of Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League and also plays for Delhi in cricket first class.

Childhood & Early Life
Shikhar Dhawan was born on December 5, 1985, in Delhi, India into the Punjabi Khatri family of Sunaina and Mahendra Pal Dhawan. His younger sibling is called Shreshta who was recently married in November 2017.
At 12 years of age, he was enticed by his uncle to join the famous Sonnet Club to train cricket under the legendary trainer Tarak Sinha. Never averse to rubbing shoulders with the big boys, he quickly impressed his coach with 100 for the U-15 team at the school’s tournament.
As of 2009, Dhawan got committed to the Melbourne native Aesha Mukerji who was an amateur kickboxer. They later got married in 2012. Mukherjee got introduced to the couple through Harbhajan Singh. Mukherjee is younger than Dhawan and was the daughter of her former marriage. In December 2014 the mother gave birth to her son called Zoravar.
Dhawan also adopted the daughters of Aesha, Aliyah, and Rhea. In July Dhawan posted a listing for his family home in Melbourne’s outer-south-east. Shikhar Dhawan was a member of his family at the Clyde North home since 2015. Dhawan and Mukerji ended their wedding in September 2021.
Shikhar Dhawan first started participating for Delhi Under-16s in 1999 and 2000 Vijay Merchant Trophy, and the following year, he led his team to the finals, where he was the top in the run scoring. He was then chosen to be part of the North Zone Under-16s team and, at 15, he secured a spot as a member of the Delhi Under-19 squad.
Shikhar Dhawan was selected to the senior Indian group for the first time in October of 2010 for the ODI series that lasted three matches against Australia in which he was dismissed to a second-ball draw in his first game. The next time he was selected, he would take part in limited-over games during the tour by India to West Indies in June 2011 and played the T20I debut but failed to show up, except for a half-century.
Shikhar Dhawan’s performance during the initial tournaments was not up to par and he was forced to switch the teams from Delhi Daredevils to Mumbai Indians to Sunrisers Hyderabad finally in 2013. Since then, he’s been able to lead the team to the playoffs two times in 2016 and 2017. He won the title twice in 2016.
