Shoaib Malik (born 1 February 1982) is a Pakistani cricketer who is part of the Pakistan national team. He currently is playing for the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He was head of the Pakistan national cricket team from 2007 until 2009. His One-Day International debut was in 1999 against the West Indies and his Test debut was in 2001 against Bangladesh.

He was the son of Saleem Hussain Malik alias Faqeer Hussain Malik. His mother’s name was Sultana Malik. The death of his father occurred in 2006 due to a lengthy illness. Their younger brother of his, Adeel Malik is an experienced cricketer. He has two sisters, Sadaf Imran, and Shazia Imran. It is reported that Shoaib Malik was engaged to Ayesha Siddiqui back in the year 2002. He divorced her on April 7, 2010.

On April 12, 2010, Shoaib was a wedding to Indian tennis player Sania Mirza in Hyderabad, India. They first met in a restaurant in Hobart, Australia, and married after five years of courtship. The Walima ceremony took place on the 25th of April, 2010 in Sialkot, Pakistan. The couple is blessed with a son named Izhaan Mirza Malik born on October 30, 2018. On July 20, 2021, the couple was awarded a Golden Visa by the United Arab Emirates.

Education

Shoaib Malik attended a variety of schools in his hometown of Sialkot, Pakistan, and finished his education in Pakistan’s Sialkot region. He was not a part of the higher levels of education since he made the decision to pursue the sport of cricket from a very young age.

Personal Life

Malik was born into a middle-class household in Sialkot situated in the Pakistani Punjab province. He was the son of Malik Faqueer Hussain, a modest storekeeper who sold local shoes and encouraged his son’s passion for cricket, who died from throat cancer in the year 2006. Malik got divorced from their wife Ayesha Siddiqui on the 7th of April 2010.

On the 12th of April, 2010 Shoaib Malik was married to Indian tennis pro-Sania Mirza in a traditional Hyderabadi Muslim wedding ceremony at the Taj Krishna Hotel in Hyderabad, India followed by Pakistani wedding traditions.

Early Career

He started playing cricket with tape on the streets when he was a kid. He began to play cricket on a serious basis in 1994 after he attended Imran Khan’s travel coaching workshops in Sialkot at the age of 12. Shoaib Malik started as an acrobat, but he also began to develop his bowling later. He often got into problems with his parent’s members for playing cricket as the family wanted him to concentrate on his studies.

Domestic

He made his debut in cricket for the Gujranwala team in the match against Karachi and picked up 5 wickets in the first game. He was picked for Team Pakistan in the year 1997. The year 1998 was the last time he was a player for the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) team.

In the Wills Cup semifinal, he scored two wickets. Wasim Akram and Moin Khan observed his performances and suggested to the Pakistan Cricket Board to select him to selection for the Pakistan National team.

International

He played his first test match on the 29th of August 2001 against Bangladesh at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan, Pakistan. In the past, he has played India, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Bangladesh. In his first game against Bangladesh, He took two wickets in the game. He made his first half-century, with a score of 59 runs on October 24, 2004, in Sri Lanka.

IPL Career

Shoaib Malik signed with Delhi Daredevils and played in the first year of the IPL. He only scored 52 runs over seven matches and scored two wickets during the tournament. He was not a part of the second edition of the IPL (or any subsequent edition in the years since) due to the intense environment following the Mumbai attacks in 2008. Mumbai attacks.
