Sumbul Khan was born on 15 November 2003 in Delhi to a Muslim family. The father of her daughter Touqeer Hasan Khan is a Choreographer working in the TV industry. She has a younger sister named Saniya Touqeer who is also an actress. Her parents split up when she was just six. Her father was her primary caregiver. Sumbul began her career as an infant actor in the television industry.

She was a part of the character that played Mehtab (niece of Akbar) in Jodha Akbar and then Waaris on the channel &TV. The year 2009 saw her a part of the show on Sony TV, Chandragupta Maurya. She played the crucial part of Shubhada. In 2019 she had her Bollywood debut in her film Article 15.
