Vidyut Dev Singh Jammwal, an Indian actor, film producer, and martial artist, specializes in Hindi films and is recognized for his proficiency in Kalaripayattu. His notable contributions to the film industry include his outstanding performances in the Commando film series, for which he has earned numerous accolades, including a Filmfare Award.

After making his mark in negative roles with his Telugu debut in Sakthi, Hindi debut in Force, and Tamil debut in Billa II, he finally got his first lead role in the successful film Commando. He continued to make appearances in various films, such as Anjaan, Thuppakki, Baadshaho, Commando 2, Junglee, Yaara, Commando 3, and Sanak.

Early Life

Vidyut Jammwal was born in Jammu, Jammu, and Kashmir, India, as the second of three children to an Army officer. Due to his father’s transferable job, his family moved around frequently, allowing him to train in Kalaripayattu at an ashram in Palakkad, Kerala, run by his mother since the age of three.

He further honed his martial arts skills by traveling to various countries and training with martial artists proficient in different forms, many of which have roots in Kalaripayattu. He performed live-action shows in over 25 countries as part of his training.

Vidyut Jammwal has trained in various forms of martial arts and holds a degree in the same. He has traveled to more than 25 countries, where he performed in live-action shows. In 1996, he began his career in the entertainment industry as a model. In the year 2000, he participated in the Gladrags modeling competition. He later made his Telugu film debut in the movie “Sakthi”.

Apart from his Telugu debut, Vidyut Jammwal has also worked in several Bollywood movies, including “Force” directed by Nishikant Kamat, which marked his first project in Bollywood. He appeared alongside John Abraham in the movie, which was released in 2011. Jammwal portrayed a negative role in the film and his performance earned him several Best Debut Awards.
