IPS Amit Lodha was born on 22 February 1974 and is a 1995 student at IIT Delhi. He completed his education at St. Xavier. Amit Lodha passed the UPSC exam on his first attempt after completing IIT. He joined the IPS in 1998 and was then posted to the newly-created area of Sheikhpura in Bihar in 2005. Lodha, an Inspector General Officer (IGO), in Bihar, is currently in the position.
Amit Lodha was a man in uniform as his idol. His maternal grandfather was an IAS officer so he had a lot of respect for him. He was shy and never thought he would one day be an IPS officer. He wrote “Bihar Dairies”, which inspired the Netflix series “Khakee: The Bihar Chapter”.
Bihar’s 49-year-old IPS officer is part of a happy, small family. His mother and father are proud of their son’s achievements, as are his wife and children. Amit’s maternal grandfather, who was an IAS, is a reason for his inclination toward civil service. His father (Narendra Lodha), was a Sawai Mansingh Hospital doctor when he was growing up. Amit’s younger brother, who is reportedly also a government employee, is also known to be working.
Amit Ladho was conceived on 22 February 1974. He is a Hinduism follower. His family moved to Jaipur in Rajasthan, a few months after his birth. His father became a Sawai Mansingh Doctor and his mother was a housemaker, taking care of her family. Lodha aspired to follow in the footsteps of his maternal grandmother and be an IAS officer.
He also took Class 12th pressure and prepared for IIT. His hard work paid off when he passed the entrance exam for the first time. He was constantly beaten by his senior for 15 consecutive days and suffered from an inferiority complex. He said that his IIT life was a hellish experience and shared this with us in an interview.
Amit was awarded the title of ASP in Bihar Police after completing his training. Bihar was plagued by crime at that time. Criminals, kidnappings, thefts, and murders plagued the state. Amit, a former Engineer, and Doctor said that even Engineers and Doctors didn’t want to travel to Bihar due to the high crime rate.
Amit’s determination and fierce attitude made him strong enough for any challenge. All the cases that he was faced with were solved by him with the utmost courage. Amit was said to have asked anyone who needed help to call his landline if they had any problems.
Amit would face his greatest challenge as a cop in 2006, however. In Bihar, the terror of Ashok Mahto, the most notorious criminal back then, increased exponentially in May 2006. Ashok and Pintu Mehta (Chandan Mahto), were responsible for the grisly killings of 15 people in Sheikhpura in just two days. Amit revealed that it was almost like fighting in Bihar at this time in an interview.

He was awarded the President’s Police Medal in recognition of his meritorious service. He also received the Internal Security Medal.
