The year 2018 was a significant one for both the PPP and Bilawal, as the party made history by being the first political party to release its election manifesto for the 2018 General Elections. This was the 10th manifesto published by the party, titled “Bibi ka Waada Nibhaana Hai Pakistan Bachana Hai” (We have to fulfill Benazir’s promise and save Pakistan).
Bilawal was appointed as the Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party following the assassination of former Prime Minister Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi. After Benazir’s death, Bilawal’s father, Asif Zardari, assumed power. During Zardari’s regime, Bilawal remained out of Pakistani politics and kept a low profile until 2017-18.
However, during this period, Bilawal emerged as a prominent figure in Pakistani politics and led the campaign for the 2018 General Elections.
