Education and Early Life

She was born on the 12th of January 1972 in New Delhi, India. The daughter of Rajiv Gandhi a member of the Nehru-Gandhi family and the President of the nation. She is the mother of Sonia Gandhi, an Italian-born Indian who is part of the Indian National Congress. Her elder brother name Rahul Gandhi is a Member of Parliament and the President of the Congress party.

She completed her education at Modern School and Convent of Jesus & Mary in New Delhi.

Personal Life

The couple is Robert Vadra, a businessman from Delhi. The wedding ceremony took place at the Gandhi home, 10 Janpath, on 18 February 1997 during a customary Hindu ceremony. They have two children, Raihan, a son Raihan and one daughter Miraya. She has been converting to Buddhism.

Political Career

When the Indian general election of 2004, she served as the campaign manager of her mother and was a part of the team that managed the campaign of her older twin brother Rahul Gandhi election campaign. When it came to the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, in 2007 when Rahul Gandhi was the head of the statewide campaign.

She specialized in the ten seats of the Amethi Rae Bareilly region, taking two weeks in the region to try to end the raging among the party’s workers regarding seats allocated. On the 23rd of January, 2019, she formally entered politics after being named as the Congress General Secretary for the eastern region in Uttar Pradesh.
