Early Life

Rahul Gandhi was the son late Rajiv Gandhi, who was former UPA president Sonia Gandhi. He is the grandchild of Feroz Gandhi and Indira Gandhi. Paternal Uncle Late Sanjay Gandhi was also an elected politician. When he was a child the young man was not much exposed to the world of public opinion. He was raised under the watchful eye of his family, especially with the guidance of his mother Sonia Gandhi.

Education

Following Indira Gandhi’s assassination, due to reason of security, Rahul Gandhi along with his daughter Priyanka was educated at home. To earn his degree, he enrolled in St. Stephen’s College, Delhi in 1989.

After finishing his first year, he was admitted to Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S. During an election gathering in 1991, he was arrested. He graduated in 1994. finished the Bachelor of Arts from Rollins College. He completed his M.Phil at Trinity College, Cambridge, England.

Political Career

In the year 2004, Gandhi started actively taking part in political activities. He was the first candidate in the constituency of Amethi. This seat is usually held by the Gandhi family. He also won the seat in 2009 and 2014.

He was the leader of the 2014 campaign. Indian National Congress faced the biggest defeat they have ever suffered in an election. The party only got 44 seats during that election. The leader was appointed by the Congress party when his mother quit the position. In 2019, Congress was defeated in the elections and won only 52 seats.
