Drishyam Hindi Movie 2015 Cast, Plot, Production, & Release

Starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, and Rishab Chadha, the film was originally released on July 31, 2015. It quickly gained both critical acclaim and commercial success, amassing over ₹111 crores worldwide. Its triumph led to the release of a sequel, Drishyam 2, in 2022. The film’s global reach expanded even further when it premiered in China in 2022, raking in a remarkable $4.05 million and pushing its total worldwide earnings beyond ₹147 crores.

Plot

The story unfolds in the fictional village of Pondolem, located in Goa, where a new con man arrives and joins the recently established local police station. While exploring the station alongside a constable, he spots a man named Vijay Salgaonkar sitting at one end. Curious, the newcomer inquires if the man is indeed Vijay Salgaonkar and the constable affirms. At that moment, the film delves into a flashback as “Vijay” closes his eyes, transporting the audience to his past.

Vijay Salgaonkar is portrayed as an orphan who discontinued his education after completing the fourth grade. Presently, he leads a content life as a businessman, managing a cable TV service in Goa. He is happily married to Nandini, and together they have two daughters—Anju, whom Vijay has lovingly adopted and is currently studying in twelfth grade, and Anu, who is a sixth-grade student.
