The stellar cast of Goodbye features Amitabh Bachchan, who delivers a remarkable performance alongside Rashmika Mandanna, marking her debut in Hindi cinema. Neena Gupta adds her exceptional talent to the ensemble, while Sunil Grover, Pavail Gulati, Ashish Vidyarthi, Elli AvrRam, Sahil Mehta, Shivin Narang, Shayank Shukla, newcomer Abhishekh Khan, and the late Arun Bali portray supporting roles in the film.
The story revolves around a dysfunctional household and primarily focuses on the character of lawyer Tara Bhalla. Tara resides in Bengaluru with her partner Mudassar and leads a somewhat detached life from her family. After winning her first case, Tara decides to celebrate and becomes unreachable, ignoring calls and messages from her concerned mother, Gayatri.
However, tragedy strikes when Tara’s father, Harish, contacts her on the same day to deliver the devastating news of Gayatri’s passing. Overwhelmed with grief and the need to be with her father during this difficult time, Tara hastily makes her way back to her hometown of Chandigarh. In Chandigarh, Tara has three brothers.

In his review for The Free Press Journal, Rohit Bhatnagar gave the film a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. Bhatnagar described “Goodbye” as a film that lingers in your thoughts, prompting you to reconsider the dynamics within your own family. He praised it as a contemporary family entertainer that retains strong traditional values.
The film achieved a box office collection of ₹0.93 crore on its opening day in the domestic market. By the end of the first weekend, its gross collection had reached ₹3.78 crores.
