Chief Minister (2019–2024)

Hemant Soren assumed office as Jharkhand’s Chief Minister on December 29, 2019, after the coalition victory of JMM, INC, and RJD in the state’s legislative assembly election. Alongside Congress leaders Alamgir Alam and Rameshwar Oraon, and lone RJD legislator Satyanand Bhokta, he formed the government. However, on January 31, 2024, Soren faced arrest by the Enforcement Directorate due to allegations of involvement in a land scam, prompting his resignation and submission of his resignation letter to the Governor of Jharkhand, C. P. Radhakrishnan.

Chief Minister (2013-2014)

He assumed office as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on July 15, 2013, with backing from the Congress and RJD, following the removal of President’s rule in the state. Re-elected in December 2019, he was sworn in for his second term as Chief Minister on December 29.
