Plot
Karthik Narayan (Farhan Akhtar) is an introverted individual with low self-esteem, feeling trapped in his mundane job at a construction company. Haunted by a childhood incident, Karthik recalls his older brother Kumar’s tormenting behavior, which went unnoticed by their parents whenever Karthik complained.
One fateful day, Kumar attempted to throw Karthik into a well, but Karthik managed to escape. Tragically, Kumar accidentally fell into the well and lost his life. Since then, Karthik has carried the burden of guilt, believing himself responsible for his brother’s demise. Shonali Mukherjee (Deepika Padukone), Karthik’s coworker at the company, remains unaware of his existence and the affection he secretly harbors for her.
