Plot
In 1920, under the British Raj, Governor Scott Buxton and his wife Catherine venture into a forest located in Adilabad. It is there that they seize Malli, a young and talented artist belonging to the Gond tribe. This abduction sparks intense fury within the tribe, prompting their protector Komaram Bheem to set out on a mission to rescue her. Komaram disguises himself as a Muslim man named Akhtar and makes his way to Delhi.
Meanwhile, in another part of the region, the Nizam of Hyderabad, who sympathizes with the British Raj, notifies Scott’s office about the imminent danger. However, undeterred by the warning, Catherine recruits A. Rama Raju, an ambitious officer serving in the Indian Imperial Police, to suppress the brewing threat.

Production
Development
During an interview with Variety in October 2017, S. S. Rajamouli revealed his plans for two upcoming projects after the success of “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” (2017). He announced collaborations with producers D. V. V. Danayya of DVV Entertainment and K. L. Narayana. Rajamouli prioritized his work on the first project, described as a social drama film, followed by Narayana’s production featuring actor Mahesh Babu.
Post-production
The post-production phase of the film commenced concurrently with the conclusion of film production. In April 2020, amidst the global pandemic, the dubbing process began. Rama Rao and Charan, the lead actors, recorded their portions for the film from the comfort of their homes, becoming the first individuals to do so under these unique circumstances.
Music
Renowned composer M. M. Keeravani, who is also Rajamouli’s older cousin and frequent collaborator, created the score and soundtrack for the film. The audio rights of the film were acquired by Lahari Music and T-Series for a staggering sum of ₹25 crores (US$3.1 million).
Setting a record for the highest price paid for a South Indian album. Lahari Music handled the distribution of the soundtrack in all South Indian languages, while T-Series marketed the Hindi version of the soundtrack.

Theatrical
Originally slated for a theatrical release on 30 July 2020, “RRR” had to undergo several changes in its release schedule. The film was rescheduled to have special premieres across India and the United States on 24 March 2022, followed by its worldwide theatrical release on 25 March 2022. This adjustment allowed the film to have exclusive premieres before its wider release.
