Sohaib Maqsood (born 15 April 1987) is a Pakistani cricketer. Because of his aggressive approach to batting and his 6-foot-2” height, his name is often compared with the former Pakistan captain, batsman as well as his fellow Multan native, Inzamam-ul-Haq.
He made his debut in ODI in the ODI series for Pakistan in the match against South Africa on 8 November 2013, scoring 56 runs from 54 balls. The number on his squad is 92. He was selected as a personal tribute to the winner of the Pakistan team from 1992’s Cricket World Cup.
Sohaib Maqsood is a player for the national club Multan Tigers in the Haier T20 Cup and the United Bank of Pakistan in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy. He was captain of the Pakistan A in 5 One-Day Internationals that were not officially played against UAE.
Early Life
Born into a Middle-Class family in Multan, Maqsood developed his passion for cricket. It is not clear if his hometown of Inzamam was a source of inspiration to play or not, the player possesses many qualities of Inzamam. Sohaib began their Domestic T20 Cricket Career in 2005 with Multan Tigers. The club then chose him for the United Bank of Pakistan for the Quaid-iAzam Trophy.
Career
Sohaib began the journey of his PSL career in the year 2016 when he was selected to help fill in the Lahore Batting Line Up. He was included in the Zalmis Squad for PSL 2017. Season. The newly-formed Multan Sultan Team Picked him to play in the PSL 2018. Then, he was a regular batsman for Multan Sultans XI. As a player for Multan, He received praise from experts in Cricket due to his soft strokes in the PSL Season 2018.
In the following seasons, he played PSL 2019, 2020, and 2021 seasons as part of Sultans Squad. He was the top-scoring player in PSL VI (2021), and due to this feat was considered to be a potential player for Pak against. England. His selection to Pakistan’s Pakistan team was based on Haider Ali’s suspension for breaking CoVID-19 Protocols.
International Career
This isn’t the only time Maqsood participated in his first International Match (against England) in 2021. He has played in several International matches prior to this so this is the “Second” life in Pasktian’s squad. The first time he played with International ODI Cricket was against South Africa in 2013 when he scored 56 runs off 54.
In his second game, the score was 53 goals. Maqsood was a part of Pakistan’s One Day International Team and T20 International team in 2013 2013, 2014, and in 2015. In 2016 Maqsood was said to have an injury that was severe and was not able to participate in any Cricket sport.
