He was originally born in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District, and possessed a deep passion for music from a tender age. When he entered the Tamil entertainment industry, he initially adopted the name “Agni.” However, this name was subsequently altered by S. A. Chandrasekhar, who expressed concerns about its luck. Consequently, he decided to incorporate “Vijay,” the name of his son (the actor Vijay), in front of “Antony.” Vijay Antony initially entered the entertainment scene as a music composer in 2005. Interestingly, his name was changed to Vijay by S. A. Chandrashekhar, who believed that “Agni” was not an auspicious name. A remarkable milestone in his career came when he became the first Indian music director to win the prestigious 2009 Cannes Golden Lion for the song “Naaka Mukka” in the Best Music category, featured in an advertising film.
At the tender age of seven, Vijay Antony faced the tragic loss of his father, leaving him and his four-year-old sister without paternal care. Their mother, determined to provide for her two children, secured a government job to support them. Vijay’s educational journey took place at the Anglo-Indian School Campion Anglo. He has mentioned that his mother’s income was modest, sufficient to meet their basic needs, but their upbringing was marked by various hardships as he grew up.
